Had hoped for you the chemo would do more; likely it has acted to help contain the cancer and reduce the risk of spread as a pre RC treatment. The micropapillary variety requires the experience of a major place such as MDA.

Wishing you and your wife well,

Best

Update.

My wife had another cystoscopy and the urologist has determined that she is still a candidate for a RC. It is scheduled in several weeks.

Thanks for the update. MD Anderson is still the best for beating this disease.

DX 5/6/2008 TAG3 papillary tumor .5 CM in size. 2 TURBS followed by 6 instillations of BCG weekly with a second round of 6 after a 6 week wait.

Cycle 4 and CT Scan completed. Unfortunately the chemo was not effective. The tumor has continued to thicken. Will undergo another cycle of chemo in about a week to try to buy time until the bladder removal surgery can be coordinated.

JamesF,

You and your wife could not be at a better place.

It is important to be at a place like MDA that is on top of the latest information AND maintains their focus on the patient and family. More so with a high grade, less common variant.

It appears that your wife is being treated aggressively and without delay, which seems appropriate for her diagnosis.

Following the re-staging, you will likely receive a treatment recommendation vetted by the MDA tumor board. Again, a great group to have reviewing the options.

Absolutely the right track.

Best,
Jack
