JamesF,

Always hard to have a loved one recovering, but it seems she is doing well from your description. Not a lot of fun, but there is promise for the better days ahead.

Best to you both
Jack

Just completed day 2 since RC summary:

1. They had her sit in a chair for about an hour.
2. Was not able to to walk because every time she stands her blood pressure drops significantly.
3. Has not used restroom yet.
4. She was able to drink some and had a tiny bit of white toast.
5. Nauseated today with moderate pain. Threw up once in evening.
6. Received training with attaching bag today.
7. Drain still pretty red, but lightening up some.

Hopefully tomorrow will show improvement.

Will report back as things progress.

JamesF,

Thanks for the updates. We all gain knowledge from each and every post and glad that scare is past. Especially for us that have been under the knife, the anesthesiologist is super important now that your wife appears to have a sensitivity to some of those drugs. Only upward and onward from here we trust!

DX 5/6/2008 TAG3 papillary tumor .5 CM in size. 2 TURBS followed by 6 instillations of BCG weekly with a second round of 6 after a 6 week wait.

Eight hour RC completed today. Everything went as smooth as possible during surgery. The doctor stated he did not see any sign of the cancer outside of the bladder and expects the pathology will corroborate. Since it is plasmacytoid we will wait anxiously on the pathology, but for now will be positive and work on recovery.

I should mention there was one small hiccup after surgery. While in PACU she had been given a pain and nausea cocktail that knocked her out and then taken to her room. When she reached her room she could not be revived. Her breathing was down to four breaths a minute. A lot of commotion and a tense half an hour later they were able to revive her with NARCAN. Apparently she is very sensitive to the aforementioned cocktail. Pretty scary.

Update.

All preliminaries done. RC will be later this week. Surgery is expected to be 10-12 hours, with possibly a week stay in hospital. Will report back after surgery as I am sure I will have questions.

Thanks
