She should start accelerating slowly on the upward trail. Give it another 30-60 days and it will become a distant albeit no fun experience! Happy for both of you.

Day 7 and 8: Summary

1. Her blood pressure now does not drop precipitously when stands.
2. She was able to walk around the nurses station (150 steps) today with help. That is 147 steps more than she has walked the first 7 days combined since surgery.
3. Continued with her first solid food diet since surgery.
4. Bowels continue to improve.
5. Gets extremely tired quickly. The steps today absolutely exhausted her.
6. Optimistic that tomorrow will show continue improvement.

Will continue to post progress every few days.

Day 3 and 4 are done. Summary:

1. Due to vomiting my wife received a nasogastric tube. She has had it for two days. No food or liquid during this time, feeding intravenously. Once she is able to get bowels moving they will remove it.
2. Day 3 she was very tired and slept on and off most of the day.
3. Day 4 much improved. Very alert and stayed awake nearly the entire day.
4. They have been unable to have her stand because her blood pressure drops 40 points when she stands because of the dehydration, etc. They expect that tomorrow she will be able to walk some and then things should be on the upswing.

Will post later to continue to document the process for future readers.

JamesF,

Hopefully, the worst is behind you both and in 2-3 months simply a distant memory!
