That is very scary, but the kidneys are functioning. That part is good news.
The nephrostomies are not insurmountable news. I have seen correspondence from people living with two of them, over long periods of time. My husband had a nephrostomy for several months, and in the end, the biggest problem was finding a way to hang the bag without losing the leg straps, so he could walk around at work. (He ended up sewing himself a bag he could hang on his belt)
He could not get the nephrostomies reversed for months, because he was on blood thinners, so we just learned to live with the tubes. I learned to bandage them so that he had the least amount of discomfort. If the stitches pull, they can be adjusted.
I hope you get a chance to celebrate your wedding with your entire family. That your father can wish you well will be a great comfort to him.
