Nix,

I had complications as well, including the painful voiding and not being able to hold very long. Also had negative results on tests for infections. My uro arrived at the conclusion of prostatitis by elimination - put me on cipro for 60 days. After 1 week, felt a lot better and am doing fine now.

Sometimes these issues are difficult to discover, but good luck.

Did you ask about the Ditropan? It helped me a lot. Sorry you're going through this.
About plane tickets. Have you called to see if they have any provisions for illness? I'm sure you uro could certify that you are ill. It's sure worth a try. I know Southwest does this for seniors.
My hope is that you get to go on your trip. Grandchildren can ease almost any pain or at least take your mind off it.
Good luck

Warren, You are right about the quality of life. I really think this whole thing could have been over if he would have just listened to me describing the problems I am encountering. Of course, I am not a dr. but a few clicks on the computer did lead me to know there could be a problem that can actually be solved.
There have been a few past issues as well, and I just don't have the trust in him that I had three years ago.
I am going to his office tomorrow to try to get to the bottom of this and hopefully, I will be able to get on the plane Tues. to visit my grandchildren for a week. This trip has been planned for 3 months. I know my bladder problem is the bigger concern, but I a hoping to get both resolved!
Isn't it funny the way we get comfortable with one DR and overlook some of the problems? I guess sometimes it is easier to stay put that move. Unless, he comes thru with flying colors tomorrow I think a move in in order.
I hope you are feeling better, I follow your threads - you have been a warrior!

Dear Nix,
It's tough to decide to change urologists if you've been cancer-free after his treatment, but while beeng cancer-free is the most important thing, a good quality of life is right up there with it. I had been cancer-free for 6 years with never a recurrence, and my urologist was so focused on the cancer-free aspect of my treatment he completely dropped the ball on dealing with the complications - in my case a urethral stricture. He was a colleague and a friend and I couldn't get through to him that there was an unresolved issue that needed more of his attention. I had no choice but to change urologists.
Going to someone else with a different perspective for another opinion is never wrong. If it results in your transferring the remainder of your care then it's clearly what you need.

Hi Nix

Sorry, I did not realize this has been going on so long, and that you spoke with your Uro on Friday morning.
By all means consult with another Uro.
I would also even email Dr. Lamm and see if he has a suggestion. He answered all 3 emails I have sent him.
I wish you all the best in getting this resolved asap.
