Yes, once again BCG

Hi Jack
Normally I would not expect a return call within two hrs, however, I have been in direct contact with him over the 14 days, telling him how my bladder has reacted after this series of BCG (I also saw him twice). The last time I spoke with him, Friday morning, I told him I was no better and this has been going on for 14 days, isn't there anything that could help? He said he never had a patient respond this way, and gave me another med for frequency. Unfortunately it isn't just frequency I have complained about - it is the pressure 24/7 I have. It bothered me he did not do any research to find out what could be the problem. Maybe I am over-reacting and expecting too much, but here I am 16 days later and still no progress. Still in the house all the time because it is too uncomfortable and not worth the trouble to go anywhere.
I thought he could consult with another Uro in his practice if he did not know what to do.
You are right - I am cancer free.....so far, and we have worked together with the BCG - but I am afraid I am at a crossroads with BCG and I have to make the right decision. Perhaps I can go to the specialist at Moffitt for a follow up?
I thank you for your thoughts - Already I shiver just thinking of BCG in 5 months.

Hi Nix

You have said that you have been very happy with your Uro throughout your time with bladder cancer. You have already had a 2nd opinion, that concurred with your Uro's dx and treatment plan.
You have been cancer free through out your maintenance treatments.
Are you sure you want to change Uro's at this time?
I would not expect my Uro to return a phone call with-in an hour or 2, because he is so busy. But I would expect his assistant to call me back and advise when I could expect a return call.
When I was going through my problems with infections, I handled everything with my primary Doc. The one major infection I had, he immediately referred me to an Infection Specialist, who took over my case.
During this process the Specialist stopped my BCG treatments for 3 weeks, until he was sure the problem had cleared. The Specialist sent all my test results to my Uro and my primary Doc. The only time during this whole process I spoke to my Uro was to reschedule the BCG.
Just thought I would share this with you.
I hope you get this problem behind you soon.
I wish you cancer free forever.
Jack

Thank you so much Pat. I will call my Uro Monday, hopefully for some help with this.........then if we go away for a week, I will call Dr Sexton as soon as we get back to set up an appointment. I think it is time to move to another doctor. You have been so much help to me and of course to everyone on this site!

I think Lockhart is still there...but Dr. Sexton has a great background at Wake Forest and also dealing with BCG and other problematic symptoms..

Yes, I did go for a second opinion at Moffitt about 18 month ago. His name was Dr Lockhart. At the time he said my Uro was doing exactl what he would do. I don't think he is still there. Do you know of a good Uro in the Tampa area?
