There has been a wonderful change on the info before. I just spoke with my parents.

There was a planned strike at the hospital that has been suspended: we will have the results in 5-7 days!

Many thanks for the prompt responses. Sorry to have caused alarm. I was very alarmed myself.

My father is a male, 65, nonsmoker. Hematuria 01/08 TURB: T1 G3 widespread bladder+prostatic urethra; 3-month BCG.
Clean until 02/11: small TURB with no biopsy; 06/11 tumour detected TURB 08/11: awaiting biopsy, prostatic adenoma removed. Biopsies show both were benign. (...)

Gabriel,

I want you to be informed and not alarmed....It is always better to be safe that sorry with this disease.....

I will also chime in on this subject. I agree with Pat that a top Uro/Surgeon at the top Cancer Center that you can get to.... who does this procedure daily is probably one of THE most important decisions you will make on the long road that your family is on. We have had others here that trusted their local Uro, but regardless of how nice they are, they just don't do these procedures enough to be top notch...that is what you need now...Don't let your father fall through the local cracks....Insist he go to the best place available...It could be the difference between being over or under staged, or having something missed. It is also common for some bleeding after the TURB, they couldn't stop the bleeding when my husband had his, and he needed 2 transfusions, I think that is another reason your father should also be monitored in a hospital setting. Especially since you say he has so many tumors....Does this local Uro plan on trying to get them all at once?

My thoughts are with you...
Karen

Gabriel,
My husband had 2 turbs. We had the results in 5 days in both cases. I hope you are dealing with a top notch hospital cancer center with specialists who do many of these procedures. That is most important. Where is he being treated? What kind of reputation do they have in this field? Ginger Beane

I don't know about Spain but results here come back in 3 to 4 days unless the pathologists are completely overloaded and then its a week. Are you traveling to the second surgeon ? Pat

Rose, many thanks for your comments.

My dad now has a TURB date: this Thursday (24th Jan 2008). I will let you know what the biopsy says... they take apparently 5-7 days to have the results.

Regards to all!

Gabriel,

I really think that you need to talk with your brother, mother and father and see what they are most comfortable with.

I personally do not like this Urolgist casual attitude toward your father's disease.

The best scenario here is that the Uro will be accurate in his evaluation and your father's cancer is the nuisance type only, and will not have invaded into the bladder or muscle wall. But, I'm just not that comfortable with that evaluation. Still, I am hoping that he is right in his judgement. (He can't really know without a biopsy, can he?)

Please keep us posted as to how things go. I wish someone else would jump in with their opinion on this too....

Your new friend,
Rosemary
