Right now he is getting another bag of fluids. I have to get him to eat and drink. He really feels good compared to how he has felt the last 2 months. He has some skin darkening on the lower back and right buttocks area, that is the radiation side. we have really been fighting trying not to get a bad bed sore on that side. It is good again for now. has anyone had radiation? Is the skin redness then discoloration normal? He is also extremely nauseous when he needs to burp. And he was suddenly running a temp 101.5 this morning. Right now it is 99. Had one dose of tylenol at 7:00am. That is about it. And you got it. It seems like we have been smacked by one hit after another. But still holding out hope. And praying for a miracle. Thanks for any advice or just a comment. Must go need sleep before IV gets done.

We have a pet scan on 8/26 to see what if anything the radiation did for his C2 and hip area. The oncology DR. wants to give him Zometa by IV once a month and would also like to start him on a chemo regime of Gemzar. He is not sure if he wants to do either until he sees pet scan results. Right now he is very weak and doesn't eat or drink much because of just healing up the radiation sore throat. It was extremely bad. We have home health and they have been giving IV fluids at home for dehydration. Nurse is here be back later.

Hello Tracy... I am so sorry to hear about Gator's diagnosis which is just devastating news to hear and deal with. Perhaps there may be some suggestions in the Care Givers forums that might be helpful to you from others who have a loved one going through a similar difficult situation.

My heart goes out to you both and I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Catherine

Best wishes... Catherine

I am sorry to hear of your troubles. I kept rereading your post as many as 4 times. It reads as a continuous stream of hits to the head. And I am sorry.

I have very little knowledge of the steps to follow from here. I just wanted to let you know that your post has been read. And re-read.

What have the Dr. had to say and what is the protocal for treatment? You are in our prayers. And please feel free to vent on this site ... We will listen.

This is Gator's wife Tracey haven't been on for a long time. We are really fighting the giant this time. Gator had his RC with indianaa pouch on 3-29-2009. No chemo or radiation just alot of preop testing to make sure the BC was confined. 2 slightly suspicious lymph nodes, out of the 47 they took out, turned out to be negative. 6 months out check ups clear, 1 year out check ups clear. Then we moved to my husband's hometown. It is something we planned on doing eventually. oppurtunity came up for a house that we couldn''t pass up. he had to go back to Indiana in January for heart check up. Had to have a stent put in. We were to go back in April for his yearly uro checks and did not get to go. But he was already having some pain in his right hip when standing or walking. Finally got established with a family DR. here in May. He treated Gator with a course of prednisone, we all assumed the hip pain was from RA flare up. Did nort get better just proggresively worse finally got xrays of lower spine, pelic area, and right knee. on 6-21-2011 Dr. wanted to discuss xrays report showed what they thought prostate matastacic bone lesions wide sread on all areas but knee. He was diagnosed with stage 4 bone caner after pet scan on 6-24-2011. Started 10 high dose radiation treatments on right hip area and C2-4 in neck on 6- 25-2011. On 7-7-2011 laying in bed had muscle spasm and jerked right leg broke his hip spent from 7-7-2011 til 7-19-2011 in hospital for hip replacement surgery. While in had consult with spine specialist about neck. determined C2 is completely caner lesion. Got released finished the remaining 6 rad. treatments while we were home for 10 days. was readmitted to hospital for 5 days for nupagene shots and blood transfusion. At home he has had his remaing 3 nupgene shots and the last 2 days has had IV fluids. Is there any info on continuing issues we may have on this site. Thank you Tracey. he is sick have to go.
