Hello,
I am here because my brother has just been given his lab results and it says that he has reactive urothileal cells present in his urine, but no malignancies. We have a very heavy family history of cancer, so this has us all very scared. What does this mean? It's going to be over a week before he goes to see the urologist and this is torture having to wait. If anyone can please give us some information about this I would be very grateful. If this does mean bladder cancer, what should we expect from his doctors? I think I should mention that he recently had a turp procedure done, following a bilateral hernia operation. He developed urinary retention and was catheterized for several weeks. After TURP he was fine , until recently he began having trouble voiding, and went to his pysician, and they ran a cytology on his urine. I am giving you what it reads below. I thank you in advance for any information you can give me.
This is exactly what his lab report say's:
NEGATIVE FOR MALIGNANT CELLS
REACTIVE UROTHELIAL CELLS ARE PRESENT
