This was due to "continuous tourniquet effect".

There are many choices of condom catheters. I use the ones with adhesive (comes off easily when I take it off but stays on just fine when in use) and there is no band causing any tourniquet effect.

I believe in this case the condom catheter was on continuously for long periods of time.

The article also proper care and routine maintenance. I believe that would mean throwing it away after use and washing and probably not wrapping the band so tight that it causes a tourniquet effect in the first place. I guess a good rule of thumb would be "if it turns blue, it is too tight!". :ohmy: :blink: :blush:

I'm still a happy user of the condom catheters at night. Best sleep I've had in years since I started using them.

ooo nasty, must tell my mother to keep an eye on that, my Dad's been using one after his stroke.
