Daryl Gates former LAPD Chief dies of bladder cancer

Chief Gates was a hero to my husband, a former Police Chief himself, so today I wanted to read Gates' obit. I was very interested to learn that he died of Bladder Cancer. I never hear or heard of anyone besides you folks on this website with a diagnosis of BC. With the number of people dx. with BC each year other "famous" people must have this cancer. Why don't they lend their support to the cause? If BC could get a fraction of the publicity (and funding) that Breast Cancer does I wonder what could happen - an end to BC? more acceptance? people dx. earlier? I don't want to dis breast cancer but, as I have BC I would like to see more done for us.
As you all have been dealing with this a lot longer than I have, how do you reconcile the lack of support BC gets?
