Vi,

That spot can be lots of things other than cancer. Best of luck on the follow up with that!

Point taken on the second opinion/specialist,

Right now I am waiting until next Wednesday to see what the lung specialist says. Not sure what to do about doctors if I'm going to double dip (end up with 2 cancers). Really just trying to cope with the stress right now while waiting for my appointment.

I really liked #8: Spend energy living forward, not backward.

At this point I can't live wondering why or trying to find a blame for this. I need to #3 Enhance my self-awareness by doing my job researching, and the most important that did not even have a #: Reach out which is where all of you/us come into play.

Julie, I will be very interested to see more of these... I do think the first one, that you have TIME to think through your response and do research is important. Too often a doctor says "do this" and the patient, in a panic (after all, it is CANCER) rushes to follow directions. When I was diagnosed with breast cancer, my surgeon said that it had probably been slowly growing for up to 10 years before detection. Four or five weeks to come to some decisions was not going to change the diagnosis/prognosis.

Afterall, the subtitle of this web page is GET A SECOND OPINION.

Article in NY Times today gave the first three rules. I wonder what 10 rules we would come up with.
