Cataract Surgery Complications Linked to Flowmax

We learned of this problem when Dick had cataract surgery in 2007. The first operation had several complications. The lens shattered and left debris inside the eye. Another surgery had to be scheduled to do a Vitrectomy (remove the vitreous liquid in the eye and replace it with saline) the there was a long wait until they could put in the lens implant. Dick had very low vision in both eyes for 4 months because of the time it took to do the right eye as he had low vision in his left eye because of the cataract. We were told it was because he had a floppy iris due to the prostate medication.

We told the Dr. every medication he was taking and we were not told of the possible complications due to the issue. The second procedure went much better and he really enjoyed his improved vision.

I don't know who should provide the warning but I think both the urologists and the opthamologists should warn a person when they prescribe the medication and when eye surgery is pending.
