The side effects of the treatments for me didn't start till after the 4th treatment, and were very minimal. The worst was my last (6th) treatment this past Monday. Even at the worst they were nothing much to deal with. Don't waste your time worrying about it. The actual treatment takes about 5 minutes, and you are out the door. At least that's the way it worked for me. Good Luck, and don't sweat the small stuff. Greg

I'm your age. For me, the last of 6 weekly BCG instillations took place on Dec 31 of last year. Your last should be June 10. Technically summer begins after than and there is a chance that the mutual challenge we face might not interrupt your summer much at all. There is simply no way to know with complete certainty what the post-BCG cystoscopy (mine done Feb 14, six weeks after last BCG) will reveal. The outcome of the post-BCG cystoscopy will dictate what occurs next. The worst part, as you mentioned, is the uncertainty of it all. Mentally it was all consuming for me at first. At some point, I realized that the mental obsession had little, if any value. It just got in the way of enjoying life. Yes, some days the cancer dictates my life (BCG days, cysto days) but MOST days I'm in control physically and mentally. Cancer doesn't own me today.

One of the best things I did was create a journal, briefly noting my experiences along this path. I have poor recollection of events (from what I recall ;) ) so keeping a log really helps. The folks on this forum have been helpful also. Chiming in with my own experience from time to time helps me too, in some odd way.

Best of luck and please keep us updated on your progress.

4 weeks is about the minimum wait to heal. Depends on how much digging he did inside. Usually a urine test is done prior to rule out infection....might be a question when that 4 weeks is up to simply re-visit and ask if you should wait a few more.

My first TURB was March 6th your right it was about 11 days from the surgery and blood and clots started. Took me by surprise and call the urologist right away. With only 4 weeks between TURB procedures I was still very irritated in bladder. Kinda wondering how the BCG will go seeing how it will only be 4 weeks from 2nd TURB when I start?

If you URO didn't warn you, it is likely that you will pass a clot or two (usually darker meaning older blood....although as it sloughs off maybe a little lighter blood can be seen) about 10-14 days after from your TURB. While normal, I would have freaked out if I wasn't warned. BCG is all doable and remind yourself as some side effects will occur ( often urgency, cramping, low fever among others) this is all better than systemic chemo.
