Good news!

Thank you :)

I've also read that using a cath for extended periods could make it worse. Maybe it's when it's inserted for a long time. But I still think the urethra can get irritated/inflamed, if I keep pressing a large tube up frequently. I think i'll have to discuss it with the urologist when I get there in two weeks, and ask if it's really necessary. I never knew I had one, so it's a random discovery, and my journal says it's a small one.

I like your approach to self cath on the stricture! Every procedure that is invasive no matter how minor carries some kind of risk. In this case infection is probably the main concern and I think you have nailed it. You may want to prove to yourself you can do it in an emergency however, I'd probably take your approach.

Glad they found nothing and wish you well!

Thanks for your reply.

I went and had the procedure done today. In general anaesthesia.
They used the hard scope to do it, as far as I understand it. I guess so they could remove tumors if they found any.
Anyway. They didn't find anything. So that's nice :)

They were able to pass the stricture, and because I was relaxed, they didn't have to cut it, to get through. That was also nice.
It does however bleed and hurt like hell when I have to pee. They said it would be normal. I guess I'll give it a few days.

Furthermore, they said I would have to insert a catheter 2 times a week for three months, and then 1 time a week for three months, to expand the stricture.
I have to insert it myself at home, and it just have to go past the stricture, and then out again. So it's really fast.

I'm not sure i'm going to do it. I'm pretty sure I've had that stricture always, without issues. Plus there is a real risk of getting infections, especially when I have to do it so many times, and at home. My house is not sterile like a hospital.
I've talked with my dad, who is also a doctor (not an urologist though), but he thought it was unnecessary to do it, especially with the risk of infection.

Hi Panzerfury,

There's a good number of different potential causes for blood, I would say there's no reason to worry but that will never help you to stop, it's natural for your brain to wander off in all directions.

I'm 26 and had a tumour removed, I went through all the same worries... the shock, the fear, the anxiety, it all happens but it needs to for you to move on!

Focus on getting the procedure completed and recovering from that, I want to hear good results from you post op!

Hello everyone.

I feel like sharing my story, and maybe someone has tried something similar.

I'm a 26 year old male.

On 03/12-2018 (December 3rd 2018), i noticed two drops of blood in my morning urine. The urine looked fine in the toilet, but the last two drops were red.
The second time i went to the toilet which were maybe two hours later, only the last drop was red.
I naturally went to the doctor the same day.
They took a urine sample. The doctor said that if you really looked hard, you could maybe argue that there was microscopic blood in it. But it was hard to see (so maybe +1 on the strip).
Anyway, in Denmark (where i'm from), you can get a referral to a cancer package at the hospital, which means they have to sort you out fast.
So i got that.
Went for a CT scan Friday the 7th.
It was clear. The urine sample that day was also clean.
Got booked for a cystoscopy for the 13th maybe. I can't remember the exact date now. It was in local anaesthesia
Anyway, that didn't go well. Apparently I have urethral stricture which prevented the soft scope from entering the bladder. They tried to widen the stricture, but missed and hit the urinal tract wall, which meant it began to bleed. I told them to stop, because it was getting uncomfortable. They agreed.
Then they told me they would like to try again in general anaesthesia, and the doctor said they would use a guide wire to get past that stricture.
So I went into some preliminary test/consultation here on the 7th of January, where I had to do a urine test again (Which was clear).
Now I have the procedure scheduled for the 14th, and i'm really scared. Both for the results, even though the doctors don't suspect they will find anything, but also that it will bleed like after the first cystoscopy. Because that really hurt to pee that much blood. The first time i went after, it was peeing pure blood. It was so dark, and shot out like crazy.

On a side node. I did do weightlifting the day before i noticed those drops of blood on the 3rd, and during one of the lifts i did feel pain in the lower abdomen. Furthermore, at the time I was on high dose antibiotic (i've read that it can cause blood in urine), and I may have taken two rounds too close to each other during the evening on the 2nd (i had an infection in my toe, due to an ingrown nail).

Anyway. That's my story. I'm still scared about the results. I have a kid that is almost a year and a half, and just bought a house.
