Diana,
You can learn about the NCI Designated Cancer Centers at the following link
www.cancer.gov/research/nci-role/cancer-centers
I looked up your area. Los Angeles, and there are FOUR centers in your area. Each is an independent facility that has been recognized by and receives government support for cancer patient services and research. Nationwide, these are the centers that have the funding and expertise to provide the widest range of cancer related services.
You would call EACH of the four centers, and inquire about about an appointment for the specifics of your situation. You would want to ask which of the four centers might be best for your needs, and ask about the availability of an appointment - how soon can you be seen. Just like scheduling any other doctor's appointment.
The Four centers in the Los Angeles area, plus one in San Diego, with website links, are listed below.
Visit the websites, review their programs, find phone numbers.
Call the information lines. Describe your need, find help for your situation and set an appointment.
One or more of these centers will be able to assist you.
