Mel,

Here are three programs that provide medications for those that can not afford them. Is there any way you could get this information to the woman in chemo that couldn't afford her anti-nausea meds?

No Rick once a script has been given to you and the bottles opened you can not give them to any organization. It's even against the law to give a pill to someone else in your family but we all have done this. It's the law once dispensed to you they are yours and only yours. Joe :)

There are communities that have "take back" programs...i would guess the best way to find that out is to contact a pharmacist.....otherwise this is advised

I totally agree...It is a waste...When my father died the hospice nurse took all of his pills and flushed them...Some of these prescriptions cost hundreds of dollars...

I am sure it is a liability issue like alot of other acts of kindness that have gone by the wayside...

For instance we have a local grocery store, they have bags and bags of bread and bakery items
Well, they got sued because someone said they got sick from the free bread the received...the store stopped donating everything...

Mel, I have also witnessed others receiving chemo with no anti nausea drugs it seems so cruel...

I will look to see if there is some organization that will accept them, and post later....Maybe cancer services?

It is unfortunate that we can't give to those who need.....I was with my father at chemo last week and a woman was there getting treatment without any anti-nausea meds (she couldn't afford them). It was very sad and broke my heart. These meds are SO expensive and it isn't right.

My lovely and talented side-kick was going through the medicine cabinet and found we had numerous bottles of pills that are nearly full.
(Vicaden, Oxycodine, Zofran, Reglan, Kytril, Viagra).

Is there any organization that "legally" accepts donation for these pills?

It is too bad that we can't re-distribute these to people that have a need (when prescribed). This would save someone money.
