We met with her urologist today. The last biopsy indicates that the cancer that remains is not Lymphoepithelioma-like, but regular bladder cancer. She has surgery scheduled for December 19th , for Radical Cystectom and she will be in the hospital 6-7 days.
Last week, Tina's oncologist sent her records to Johns Hopkins for a second opinion by Dr. Mark Schoenberg. When she mentioned this to her urologist, his comment was that Schoenberg is the best in the world.

Sara Anne is offering good advise.

If you go to John Hopkins I would think about talking to Mark Schoenberg he is one of the best in the world if he feels you should talk to someone else he would tell you. His contact information is at this link. He is a Urological Surgeon.

If you go toward Sloan Kettering I would suggest you talk to Dean Bajorin he is a Oncologist and is one of the best in the world.

You are within "spitting" distance of two of the best bladder cancer sites in the us....Johns Hopkins in Baltimore and Memorial Sloan Kettering in NYC. You couldn't go wrong going to either of them for an evaluation and second opinion.

WOW...that is a rare one! Because of this, it might be a very good idea to get a second opinion at a place that sees a lot of bladder cancer, and might have more experience with this type of
tumor. This does not indicate a lack of respect for your current doctors, but would enable you to gather all the information you could about the situation before making a decision.

Where are you located geographically? Perhaps we could suggest some good places for a consult if we knew where you live.

My wife was diagnosed in June with Lymphoepithelioma-like cancer in her bladder. She just finished 4 months of MVAC, and the cancer is still present, but smaller. Her oncologist is now recommending removal of her bladder, but if my wife wants to try more chemo, she would order it for her, or give recommendations for a second opinion. Both of us have a lot of confidence in her oncologist and urologist.
Has anyone here had something similar? What other options are available?

Thanks
