I would just like to thank you all for the warm greetings. It feels really nice to speak with those of you who are dealing with or families who are dealing with bladder cancer. I find that often people just don't know what to say to you. Well, all of you know exactly what to say, and you have, and i thank you. JESS

Jess,
Just wanted to let you know that we are all here for you, and your family. This is a fantastic site to help with the journey your family is now on. A great place for sharing ups, downs, fears, questions, etc. It's truly helped us all keep our sanity in the midst of everything.
My husband, Jerry, is now 13 months post-neo, and 7 months post-chemo. If there's anything I/we could help with, or you just want a listening ear, please feel free to email!

Dear Jess,

Just wanted to wish your Dad all the very best with his recovery from surgery.

Getting used to his new bladder and gaining control once all tubes are removed will need lots of patience and support.

I am not sure when the next batch of chemo will be planned but please be aware this may effect control of the bladder.

I was lucky enough to gain control within a few days of the tubes being removed except for accidents when coughing or sneazing.

When I started adjuvant chemo I found that sometimes control was lost at night times because of tiredness. If chemo is delivered which requires lots of flushing of the kidneys these will be the moments that will be more difficult.

Wishing all the very best for a smooth training of the bladder and a kick arse chemo regime.

Jess,
I have not been on here long myself. You will find the people are so wonderful and supportive. They have really helped me get thru my ugliest moments. Actually sometimes i was laughing when it was all over.
I'm sure your dad is going thru tough times also but it will get better. After he gets all his tubes out he will think he took a giant step which he did. He will feel sooooo much better. Its gonna take some time and he will have to be patient but when you look back you will see improvement.
Tell you dad to hang in there, better days are ahead.
George

Hi Jess,

Welcome! Though it would be nice if we had all met under different circumstances, everyone here is wonderful! I do not know what I would do without all the terrific people that I have encountered in this group. I am glad that you felt comfortable enough to share with us and I am sure that you will realize how much better it can make you feel!

xoxo
Melissa
