PET scan results

7 years 1 month ago #44116 by mmc
Just got off phone with the doc thirty minutes ago. Lymph nodes appear to be cancer. Not easy to biopsy because of blood vessels in the area. Lymph node up in my chest area is also lit up on PET scan. That indicates spread which is not good news.

Surgery to remove kidney would not be curative so he doesn't recommend that. He is working on getting me in with an oncologist this week at the University of Colorado Hospital. They are top in the area. I am researching them now.

Looks like I have to go on chemo. I don't know the ramifications of that yet in terms of the schedule, side effects, impact on being able to work during treatment or the efficacy of that treatment for this.

More to come once I know.

Certainly not what was hoped for but not the end of the world either. I guess I will now learn more about chemo so maybe I will be able to add value to the forum in this area as I was not able to before.

Frankly, I'd rather have studied it as opposed to having to go through it myself but it is what it is and you play the hand you are dealt.
