For high grade bladder cancer the current standard of care would suggest a six-week induction series of BCG followed by maintenance doses. The exact protocol for these can differ, but the most common is three doses every three months for about two years. This has been shown to significantly increase the effectiveness with high grade bladder cancer.
If your husband's urologist does not prescribe this, I would want to know why.
If the original diagnosis was NOT high grade or recurrent low grade, I would want to know why BCG was prescribed.
