Mine is leaving. And though I got a ‘referal’ name I’d kinda sorta like to check out all the uro’s in my area, the best in the state, country, etc. How would I go about doing that??? :o

I got this referral for my brother in-law from a Urolgogical oncologist I know at Harvard. The urologist is at UCSD. Her name is Carol Salem: (619) 543-6966. My brother in-law was very happy with her. Just googled her. She has a website at drsalem.ucsd.edu

    Evvy,

Can you get a referral from Scripps Hospital? I would think they would have some great referrals for you. I’m not too terribly far from you–Orange Co. We’re very pleased with my husband’s urologist. He was referred to us by our Primary Care Physician.

OK…..theres a group that does surveys for NY Mag, US NEW, and other publications on best doctors in the US…you can go to their site at http://www.castleconnolly.com and go over to the left column

” to find a doctor”…and you can type in your zip code and they will give you a partial listing in your area and you can pull up the docs and see their bio’s and areas of interest. You don’t have to buy their book. let me know if you have any luck….Pat

Having a number of ‘specialists’, I think it absurd that the ‘patient’ has no way of (other than state licensing boards, which tell you only that person is licensed, business address, etc) getting ‘credentials’ on docs! :(

I second that motion from Wendy…I loved John Stein at USC/Norris.  I’ll do a check on San Diego…my cousin lives there.  Newsweek Magazine publishes a list every year of best docs in the US…i wonder if you could access a back issue?  Will get back to you…Pat

Unfortunately, I can’t get there from here! (No car, in wheelchair)

Now that is exactly the kind of thing I was thinking of. Will Google…

I’m sure there are good doctors in San Diego, but you said regional, in that case John Stein from USC/Norris is a very good, and woman-friendly uro-onc surgeon, the girls love him. The guys do to. The whole team over there is very top notch, including their uro-pathologist who’s among the best in the country (Richard Cote).

Hope you are able to get in over there…I’ve heard a lot of good things.
