Six months ago, blood in urine started me down the road to posting today. I had already met the urology folks due to a kidney bleed while taking blood thinners (subject for another forum) so I figured it was just a still angry kidney.

First visit, quick questions and exam, then the doc looked with the scope and said, looks like a carcinoma, we will schedule some tests and go from there.

It was kind of hard to organize my thoughts on the spot. The questions to which I wanted answers formed on the drive home, all well into the wee hours of the following morning.

Web time. While scanning journal articles and well known medical institution files and learning the keywords and phrases, I found this site.

You all – administration and users – have been most helpful and generous with your open discussion on the how and why of bladder cancer. I found immediate comfort in discovering others had been where I was that first day, and the likely path (and timing) for things to come. I appreciate that I was able to browse and learn here without having to register and get involved – I was not ready to do so.

As a former firefighter paramedic I am much more comfortable helping others than being helped. Glad you are here.

    Thank you all.

    Hello Jack
Welcome to our world…. and your new world.
I was you 8 years ago. Scoped and diagnosed and scared to death. Except that this site was only in its infancy and very hard to find and I was on my way to a bladder removal surgery before I could get the nerve to post. After that many of us came to help out.

We are truly glad to have you aboard. And we truly hope that you are going to be fine and healthy for a good long time.
    If you want answers……..ask
If you want to rant…… Its OK
If you want to help…… feel free
If you are cured and you want to leave…. we’ll be happy
If you want to stay and chat with us…. OK

    Welcome to our site
    George

Hello Jack, and welcome. I am glad the forum has been informative and comforting to you as you navigated your first months of bladder cancer. It is truly a community of people who have traveled very similar roads and are at varying points along the journey.

Now that you have made your first post, I hope you will return as often as you wish to ask questions or just join in the discussions. As you have already probably noticed, some of us have been hanging around here for a long time now. We hope that serves as encouragement to those newly diagnosed.

    Again welcome!

    Best wishes… Catherine
