    Hi everyone,

My Dad just had his Neobladder surgery and is doing great! He had it last Monday -the 17th and is going home tomorrow, if all goes well. He had three months of chemo before the surgery, which he hated but tolerated fairly well. He found out today that they took 49 nodes and 11 had cancer. My Mom will take the pathology report to their Oncologist tomorrow to have it read. My Dad dreaded another round of Chemo but knew it was a possibility.

Has anyone had this situation and offer any info? Such as…. if his bladder cancer was contained in the bladder, how did it get in the lymph nodes? Is being in the Lymph Nodes a BAD :( thing? Can another round of chemo, pretty much, assure him a clean slate?

Lots of questions and lots of hope and I try to keep my Dad’s spirits up.
    Thanks for any info.

If other members have had the neobladder and my Dad can contact them with questions, if they are okay with that, can you e-mail me your #?
    Thanks!
    Karen

I just wanted to update my post and thank the people who have posted about neobladders throughout this site. i have read soooo much and it helps to know what to expect. I don’t tell my Mom and Dad everything, as it is too much sometimes, but at least I am knowledgeable. My Dad is currently fighting the diarrhea and not being hungry after coming home from the hospital. My Mom is an angel and keeps him eating and drinking healthy things and drinking Ensure. The question always is : “Is this normal?” My Dad talked to one of his doctors last night who said it was normal to have the diarrhea and not feel hungry but that he needs to keep the fluid intake and food intake high enough so he wouldn’t get dehydrated and have to go to the hospital.

We won’t know until next week about the Oncology opinion on the pathology report. I will update on that when we hear.
