There are loads of folks with those symptoms and most get them earlier than dose 21! You're a lucky guy and have the constitution of an oxe. I'm sure Dr. Lamm would have loved to have you be in the clinical trial using maintenance, because you're obviously a perfect candidate....most can't finish the whole protocol because of side effects.
Lamm himself has amended his protocol to include the option of lowering the dose. He's always said it's ok to skip a dose if symptoms are still present, that this means the immune system is still activated.
Did you have CIS? Where do you go for treatment? Just curious.
Hey. 21 BCG treatments? I've had 12 and I don't think that my bladder would allow me another one. I have terrible urinary frequency, sometimes as often as every 15 minutes, but, so far I have not had the irritated places seen in the bladder. I go for a cysto next week, so there is always a chance he will see something different.
It does not surprise me that BCG could cause spots of bladder irritation, but, if it was me I think I would want one more doctor taking a look in there and concurring with your present doctor about these spots of irritation.
Just my opinion. Good luck.
Your BC friend,
Age - 55
T1 G3 - Tumor free 2 yrs 3 months
Dx January 2006
I have been receiving BCG treatments over the past 21/2 years following the removal of a CIS tumor T1. In Janurary of this year I had my 21st BCG treatment ( 3rd of 3 ). My last scope showed no tumors but several inflammed area or spots...causing urgency and frequent urinating..every hour on the hour 24/7. My Doc says they are not cancer, that these irritations sometimes occur from the BCG. He doesn't think that it is Interstitial Cystitis but he put me on the treatment for it to give me some relief....Elmiron, Amitripyline, and Antihistamine. It has help improve my fregency and discomfort. He has me on it for 3 months, Anyone out there with my symtoms?
