no i don't know...but my guess is it's in the form of beta-carotene. I don't think Dr. Lamm would recommend it otherwise. Maybe its on the bottle? I'll look into it......Pat

beta carotene is a provitamin A and does not have the same adverse affects as other forms of vitamin A apparently. The body will dump the extra when its full. I don't know...its all very confusing to me. So my guess...and its a guess...that as long as its beta carotene its ok even if you do turn yellow.........Pat

Now, this puzzles me. I was told by a nutritionist and a pharmacist that up to 25,000 I.U. of Vitamin A (in the form of a beta carotine supplement) is safe. I just don't know what to believe anymore. I will definitely stop taking it though if it is not helpful.

My urologist started me on Oncovite shortly after the first TUR in March 2005, through Chemo and am still taking them. I only take one a day.

Well i don't know how Dr. Lamm arrived at that figure...maybe BCG treatments somehow deplete the body of A?.....l0,000 IU's a day is the highest level we should be able to tolerate....too much causes osteoporosis..liver damage....and there was one study which showed excessive A increased deaths with lung cancer. Just my opinion but i wouldn't consider it if i were not taking BCG treatments. Maybe someone can weigh in who's on the treatments ? Pat
