Well I think we all agree not go with any invasive tests at this point. My Dad is on coumadin and also has been receiving Gemzar/Carbo treatments he is going into his 6th round in the next few weeks. Every test has been done which can be done without being invasive and nothing has turned up. The combo of Coumadin and chemo makes him a candidate for bleeding anyway. So at this point we are just going to table it and and help him get through his last round of chemo. Honestly if it is more cancer my Dad isn't interested in any more treatments of any kind. He's had enough of it all. He isn't giving up on life he's just done with being sick from the treatments and wants it to end. thankfully the end of tx is in sight and he wants to just finish this last bit up. thanks for your support.
A friend recently had unexplained bleeding post cystectomy (she has an Indiana pouch), it was finally diagnosed as hydronephrosis of the kidney and ureter, not cancer. I'd say keep pushing until the cause of the bleeding is found, but I'm sure the doctor in charge feels the same.
Please let us know how it turns out.
Best,
Wendy
Hmm, my Dad has been having bleeding problems. He's had blood in his urine for at least a month now! He's had many tests to find out what could be causing it xray, ultrasounds, scopes, etc. Everything comes up clean which is a good thing but never the less he continues to have blood in his urine. Some background- he already has a neobladder from his first go with bladder cancer. He currently has metastisized bladder cancer in 3 places in his lymph nodes which with chemo he is now in "clinical remission" he has one more round to finish. No other involvement at this point. The latest detail in addition to blood in his urine is he has a swollen ankle. A doppler was run today to make sure he doesn't have a clot because he has had 3 PE(pulmonary embolism). He's amazing a cat with nine lives for sure! There was no clot so apparently it is just fluid retention. He will probably be put on something for that after he sees his oncologist tomorrow or the next day. He is being treated a great cancer center and has an amazing urologist but we just can't seem to figure this one out. It's so frustrating and scarey as well. Hoping it's nothing to worry about however its just not normal to have blood in one's urine! What to do, what to do?
