How about a "Man purse"... ;D Brief case?? And i never re-use catheters so don't have to worry about cleaning them.....the doc will write the Rx for that...its worth it to me. Pat

how to store and carry catheters was created by Stephany
Greetings, all! We're one month post-surgery, and things are going pretty well. Doran had his stoma drain removed Tuesday, and now only has his lower drainage tube left, for emergencies, for a couple of weeks.

He is now catheterizing through the belly button stoma, and I have a lot of questions. I also remember that someone on this list said he had some recommendations on the paraphanalia and carrying it around, so I'd like to link up with him.

He hasn't done much outside the house yet, and was worried about carrying the caths. I found that his #14 cath would actually fit inside a toothbrush case, the kind you buy to put on the head of the brush for travel. You coil the cath, and stick the end out the hole. Once I showed him that, he relaxed a whole bunch. Now he could carry it.

Now, to rinse. We have found a great system for the house rinsing, WalMart sells a condiment dispenser (catsup squeeze bottle) in clear plastic, with a cap on the squirt dispenser. We put water in one, and a really light soap solution in the other. Then, he can squirt the soap through, and then the water, and he's done.

Now, for travel, he has the toothbrush cover and cath. I found a small plastic syringe that he can use to squirt some water through the cath, and store until he can wash.

What other options have you all found for carrying this stuff around? ???
