sorry ro..i see now that you posted T2 but no grade but it is invasive. If your first uro got all of the tumor and clean margins you're ok to wait but thats an unknown isn't it. Was the TURB done locally and how long ago? Did the path report indicate clean margins? I know when i had my second TURB done at Memorial Sloan the path department very thorough...all of the tumor out and clean margins and no cancer cells in the urine after the procedure. This meant i had some time to research diversions.

Depending on how far away you are, you may also want to tell them that you only need x hours notice in case there is a cancellation.

Be sure to get all of the records and scans together first so you can take them with you.

This is addition to everything else everyone suggested in terms of getting an appointment sooner.

ro:

I Would definitely send Dr. Schoenberg an email with all your information. Also, like Patricia said the Appointment desk does not realize the urgency you are feeling. You might also try sending all the information that Patricia mentioned, plus your concerns by email to Charlene Rogers, R.N., MSN - Research/Clinical Nurse Coordinator. I have emailed her several times and have received a response within a day. Her email is This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. She works closely with Dr. Schoenberg.

Like Rocky, Dr Schoenberg is also my Doctor. After 2 years of Walter Reed Army Medical Center my husband retired and off I went to Dr. Schoenberg. And it seems it did take about a month to get an appointment but your case is different than mine and I was already under care.

As this is the vacation season Ms Rogers can also probably let you know if Dr Schoenberg perhaps is on leave and suggest an alternate Doctor if needed.

I hope this helps but I do know from experience, weekends are the hardest when you are waiting for answers and needing help. We are with you....

Take care,
Sandra

ro....you didn't mention if this is for a second opinion or not. Has your husband already had a TURB and have you received the pathology report?
Whoever answers the phones may not know the urgency of the situation. You have Dr. Schoenbergs email address..you might contact him if you think it is more urgent..he will reply.
There are 3 major surgeons at Hopkins. Schoenberg gets the most attention as he's the most published. Dr. Chan just left to head up LIJ in New York. But you might look at the bio's of the other two.

Thanks Rocky - Did it take you a long time to get an appointment with Dr. Schoenberg? Ours is like a month and a half from now. Any idea on how to get one sooner?
