Glad to hear from you again Rick. Sorry for the problems but I'm glad they found the reason and you're hopefully moving forward. Hang in there - we're all rooting for you!

So sorry to hear of the complications Rick. This is usually resolved with guided ultrasound....
Drainage of a pelvic abscess was required in a patient 30 days after radical cystectomy and ileal neobladder construction were performed for bladder cancer. Drainage was performed via perineal access under transrectal ultrasound guidance.

Results
The procedure was painless and easily performed. About 100 ml. of pus were removed. The next day the patient was afebrile and 5 days later he was discharged from the hospital.

Conclusions
Pelvic abscess after pelvic surgery is a serious complication. Percutaneous perineal ultrasound guided drainage is a safe and effective therapeutic option.

is it possible to seek a more experienced medical team at this point?

Rick,
Glad to know you're hanging in there and continuing to fight.
Sometimes that is all we can do. It may not mean much, but we are all pulling for you!
Thinking of you and wishing you the very best.

So, I was home for a week being treated for bowel problems. By the end of that week I was so weak that they almost had to lift me in to the car.

While I was out my bowel specialist phoned and as soon as he heard my voice he redirected my wife and I to emergency where, after a battery of tests, they discovered 2 puss like infections on my new bladder. 1st choice, Xray guided needle but they were too small to target. 2nd choice, long term anti biotics. Took a week in the hospital and my 4th or 5 th specialist to get me on the right ones.

They inserted a Picc, long term IV) and they send a nurse around once a day to hook me up to some special concoction that will hopefully deal with the infections.

I go for a CT scan on the 17th and get the results on the 20th. If it is cleared up, or at least better, no change. If this hasn't worked surgery #3 will be pending.

Thank you for all your notes. Just haven't felt up to sharing until now.

I will keep you posted. Next post likely the 20th or 21st.

No one should have to deal with all you've had lately. I'm so sorry for all these problems.
I'm watching for a new post and hoping that things are turning around and getting better.

Saying lots of prayers and wishing you the best,
Vi
