Hi guys! I just got home from the hospital and he was def. in better spirits throughout the day then when I first got there. He is in quite a bit of pain (as you all know) but he is doing his best to find that happy medium to endure the pain but not too much pain meds. I have to hand it to the VA the SICU nurses are taking excellent care of him and he seems very happy with the care he has been given thus far. They plan on testing the nose tube tomorrow for about 3 hours to see how his stomach does, before they fully take it out. I think this for now is the most uncomfortable part believe it or not, just because he's so thirsty and his throat is so sore, but he is able to have a few CC's of ice chips and a throat lozanger every 2 hours. His lung capacity is excellent and the Dr. is beginning to hear a little bit of gurgling in his 4 quadraints already, so something is hopefully waking up in there!
His "hand grenade" is filling up periodically, but has had no signs of urine yet, which is great according to the dr. which I'm sure you all would agree!
So yeah... long day, but seems like things are beginning to progress, I think tomorrow will be a great day for him! Oh and they had him sit up all day today, but no walking, he had trouble just getting to his chair! ha! Think he forgot about the effects of the epidiral. I'll try to post another update tomorrow night after I visit! Thanks for all the well wishes and prayers! This has been a long journey getting him to this point, but I'm so proud of him!
