Hey Cynthia, hope you are not in too much pain. Stephany mentioned a bag for your pouch. Well I made a shoulder bag for my pouch when I had a neph tube, its denim with a little bling on the front. Let me know if this will be any good for you and I can mail it.
Hope you have a restful weekend.

Wow, you sure are getting some quick answers, and that is a good thing. I'm so sorry that she's having this problem....it doesn't sound comfortable at all!

Here's hoping that the tube will alleviate her problems. Cynthia.....we're all pulling for you. Chime in if you feel like it, but even if you don't, we'll feel like you are watching over us.

And maybe you can find a pretty bag to put your temporary pouch into....and make sure the stitches don't pull. If they do, you toddle right back to the interventional radiology, and tell them to fix it!

Hello Everyone!

Just a quick update on the outcome of Cynthia's MRI performed earlier this afternoon. The consensus following the MRI is that the "mass" is an absyst caused by urine not draining properly from her left kidney. Previous CT Scans have revealed a slightly "balloning" or enlargement of both kidneys. The doctors think that it may also be infected now because the urine isn't properly draining.

So what's next? We are spending the weekend taking a short break before next week when we'll tackle her problem anew. The plan is for Cynthia to return to MA General on Sunday evening; she won't be able to make me a snack after chat! On Monday morning, the excess fluid will be drained from her kidney. They will probably also install a "neph" tube to releave the back-up which they believe is occurring due to a narrowing of the connection between the ureter and her pouch. We're not sure what the "long term" fix will be, but we'll tackle that one after the immediate issue is resolved.

Cynthia is having pain when moving and is just resting tonight, but I'm sure she'll be back on-line for a few minutes tomorrow. I just wanted everyone to have the latest information because I know that you folks are concerned.

Thanks to everyone for their kind words, support, and prayers. We'll keep everyone posted on Cynthia's progress!
