If I hadn't had a 2nd TUR, I would still have high grade residual tumor in my bladder.  I'm very glad to have had the 2nd TUR.  In my case, it was the right thing to do.

Rosemary i think it depends on the skill of the surgeon...where you have the TUR...there are a lot of variables on why a second TUR is done. Truthfully my first surgeon was not a good surgeon but i would never have known that if i hadn't gone to a major cancer center which questioned the pathology report and it was very obvious with a poke and peek that i had residual margins in there that needed to come out. I consider myself one of the lucky ones. Pat

Neck and neck with Primary TUR and Primary TUR with Mitomycin C.  In light of new awareness concerning possiblity of death when there is perforation , I'm not sure whether I think that Mitomycin is a good idea.

The Doc said that the only way to see a perforation is by looking at the bladder at a certain angle (by the side, I think he said).

So let's hope that Mitomycin C without a perforation is a good thing.

But is it worth the risk? :-/

My doc told me today that he does not always do a second TUR. If there is multiple tumors or if there is bleeding after Primary TUR, then he will do a 2nd TUR.

As already I posted, he is not longer administering Mitomycin C.

I don't know how I feel about that, but since what's done is done, I'm glad that I got the 2 doses. It must count for something.

Okay, so it looks like 2/5 Docs are using Mitomycin C at Primary TUR.

This indicates (to me) that Docs are not always waiting for a path before administration.

The low rate of 2nd TUR's astounds me.

I'm still watching this. It is so interesting.

Okay, it looks like Primary TUR with Mitomycin C is holding it's own.

I am very surprised at the results for the 2nd TUR with or without Mitomycin C.

Let's keep watching....
