Can BCG safely be delayed?

The waiting time was about 5-6 weeks.  I had six induction doses and then the timing was every three months I would have 3 weekly doses.  Occasionally, due to irritation from the BCG, I would have to wait an extra few weeks between doses.  By the end (about 2 years) my dose had been reduced to 1/3 the original dose.

Thanks Sara. Yes, you were very lucky and  I wish you many more healthy years ahead, hope this monster disease never comes back. What was the waiting time between the TURBT and the first BCG induction. How many maintenance doses did you receive at what interval?

Yes, I just had one occurrence....papillary and CIS.  Went through the BCG induction AND maintenance and have been OK ever since.  I was very lucky, I know!

Since treatment and cancer are very individual, it is hard to predict.  But I would guess that your previous success with BCG is a very good indication that it would probably work again.  We will certainly hope so!

I am also waiting for BCG as my doctor office does not have any and I was not offered any other therapy as I wait for BCG. The URO does want to do a CAT scan though. Sara, i have been reading a lot of your posts. Did you just have one occurrence of CIS and cancer free ever since. Do you know if people normally respond well to BCG if they have responded well the first time with high grade papillary tumour? Thanks.

Thanks Sara, May I ask where you are located and which urologist do you see?
