Madlove,

Thanks for the reply. It's good to know that others have had similar experiences.

It seems that most here have had the maintenance treatments, but so far my URO is not recommending that I have them.

I believe that my inflammation is subsiding, as I used to have to get up at least 4-5 times per night now I down to 1 or 2.

Thanks for the support

Dear Jim,

Hope you have a good report soon. My husband (CIS) also had a precautionary biopsy due to redness after BCG. This wasn't an issue after the first 6 treatments. The redness was seen during the routine scope after the first maintenance series of 3 BCG treatments. He has since completed another series of 3 treatments of BCG with no redness reported on the follow-up scope.

He continues to have slight discomfort when voiding which has been discussed with his BC specialist. It's basically the new "normal" for my husband and hopefully will resolve itself once he completes (that is successfully completes!) his BCG treatments.

Best wishes.

Husband's journey:
01/2015 1st cystoscopy
03&04/2015 TURBTs-CIS
07/2015 Finished BCGx6
08/2015 biopsy-BENIGN!
10/2015 Finished BCGx3
12/2015 Cysto, redness
01/2016 TURBT, Benign
04/2016 Cysto
05/2016 Finished BCGx3
07&11/2016 Cysto's
1/2017 Finished BCGx3
2/2017 Cysto, redness
3/2017 TURBT, Cysto due 9/2017

Gee, I don't know for sure. It happened a couple of times. Once he did a biopsy and I had to wait three weeks to resume the BCG treatments so the biopsy could heal. The other times I believe that we just postponed the BCG for a week or two.

I didn't have any medications.

Sara Anne,

I forgot to ask, how long did it take for the inflammation you had to subside?
Were you given any medication to aid in that process by your URO?

Sara Anne,

Many thanks for your reply. It is reassuring to know that someone else has had the same symptoms with inflammation.
Obviously then your biopsy came back negative? Naturally I am hopeful that mine will as well.

I have had bouts with burning, and frequency in urination, but those seem to be gradually going away, so maybe my inflammation is gradually calming down.

I would think if the redness were cancer, I'd have a lot more symptoms, but not sure either.

Thanks,

Jim
