Thanks Sara Anne,
That´s what I also have been told. There was more of a redness and not a rash in my bladder, so I have to rely on the Uro, who took it for an irritation from the Mitomycin.

I might have a discussion with him in a few weeks when he has the result from the cytology test.

Niklas, you asked a good question. CIS has been described to me as looking pretty much like a rash on the surface of the bladder. When I had BCG it caused an irritative reaction in the bladder. We had to have it biopsied because, while my uro was "sure" it was just irritation, it could have been CIS again (it wasn't.)
So you see it is not a tumor in the usual sense.

Thanks Nancy and Sara Anne for, as always, for good and supporting answers. And apologises to Nancy for stealing your thread.

Sara Anne, you confirm what I suspected. One thing I haven't got yet: How DOES CIS look like? Is there a typical photo anyone can give a link to?

Yes, things such as mitomycin and BCG can and do cause irritation. While you can't ever be POSITIVE that it is not CIS, the odds are very good that it is not.
The cytology tests are notorious for both false positives and false negatives, which is why we still get cystoscopies..

Nicke,

I was watching for your post, and happy that is behind you. As for your concern of the "red area", I know how worry stays in the back of our minds.
Any time I am not sure or confident in my Uro (previous Uro) I always went for a second opinion.
My bladder was red after my 23 BCG's, but my Uro did do biopsies to verify that it was inflammation and not a return of my CIS.
Did you voice your concern to your doctor? If you have any concern I would certainly go to a Uro with bladder cancer expertise, and get a second opinion.
It always put my worry to rest.
