I have an appointment 2/11 to discuss diversions and other stuff. Even though I enjoyed 10 years cancer-free, I feel like I've been through hell with treatments and complications. The surgery scares me, but I can't imagine that the pain will be much worse than what I have already been through. I will not miss this awful bladder one bit. I am so ready.

Sad to hear that you have to go through a Radical cystectomy.
I remember when I lost my bladder in 2004 I wanted to try several options, like radiology etc. but the only option according to the uros was RC.

I was diagnozed with T3A, evetually.

At the hospital I met people that had been there every 3rd month to have BCG for 14 years, and one of them was so fed up that he wanted to get rid of his bladder.

I guess what you are thinking about now is what kind of diversion you want to choose etc.

I wish you all the best.

Sincerely,
Knut

Good luck. I think I would follow the path you're taking if faced with the same choice. You hope it doesn't come to that, but you never know. Your story only reinforces the fact that you have to remain vigalant.

Best of luck Warren! I'm sure you know the drill but don't hesitate to ask questions.

Kegels are key to gaining continence if you get the neobladder.
Walking is the key to waking the intestines after the surgery and going home.
Keep ahead of the pain but if you try to be pain free you will likely slow the awakening of the intestines. Chew gum but don't swallow it. Walk, walk, walk!

Best!
Mike
