To add what Cyhthia said there was a trial done and finished acouple of years ago on a ?myco-bacterial" treatment similar to BCG that does about the same thing and was very successful. Beyond that I have no idea what the current status is.

Jack,

Prayers are for benign or low grade. Bladder cancer REALLY sucks.

Jack... this is distressing news. I sincerely hope it is a small bump in the road that can be treated and taken care of quickly. I couldn't agree more that BC sucks!

Best wishes... Catherine

Cynthia, there are a few options if I do have a recurrence.
If low or high grade, I will have 1 instillation of chemo immediatelty following Turbt. If the recurrence is TA high grade, then alot of thought will need to be given regarding treatment. At that point I will be moving to Dr. Jewett who I know personally now because of BCC. Dr O'Donnell and Dr Lamm are both great docs and both respond to patient emails.
Thanks for your kind thoughts and advice,
Hugs,
Jack

Jack I sometimes think that the roller coaster that becomes your life when living with bladder cancer is worse than any of the treatments or tests. I am sorry you are having this scare and hope it is not a recurrence. Have you done any research into Interferon or the other agents being used when BCG can not? I know you are in Canada but having your doctors consult with
Michael A. O'Donnell of the University of Iowa might be a good idea if there is need. He has done a lot of research into non invasive and options outside of BCG.
