George,

I got only one question. Have you ever been riding down the expressway (oh, say 294) in mid january with the windows down
and when you are turning blue with your teeth chattering get yelled at for not understanding? :S

Well, shoot ... when it rains, it pours. The timing is pretty lousy. What's next, my AARP membership application arriving in the mail? My first colonoscopy? Bring it on ... I can handle anything! (Unfortunately, the answer is yes to all of the above ... )

I can relate to the hot and cold thing. My wife used to call me "The Furnace" Now I am usually on the cold side as winter approaches.

From my wife's perspective, you ARE starting the start of menopause. She was up at night and her body temp was all over the chart! Oh baby, I remember those nights.

Sounds like all three are indeed pre-menopause symptoms.
Not everyone gets all the symptoms but hot/cold flashes (varying degree), trouble sleeping, irregular periods, and urinary symptoms are fairly common.

I also read cancer treatments such as chemo or radiation can trigger it but you are right around the midpoint of average age of onset. Given that mitomycin in the bladder is a bit different, I'm not sure (and kind of doubt) that it brought it on, but anything is possible... Here is the link where I found that (bottom part of the page): www.medicinenet.com/menopause/page2.htm

Here a general link that may be helpful: womenshealth.about.com/cs/menopause/a/perimenopause.htm

Oh Kimberly....sounds like your hormones are going crazy..definately pre-menopausal and on your way. Or maybe just a glitch in the system but definately has to do with hormones. I remember the symptoms well...covers on..covers off......
