Just a follow-up on my husband and his urinary bleeding. He had a CT scan, and all looked fine on that (kidneys, bladder, etc.). He saw the urologist for a cystoscopy today, and bladder and prostate look fine -- no signs of cancer anywhere. The urologist had done a prostate "reaming" procedure on my husband some years ago, an outpatient procedure using microwave(TUMT), which worked really well. However the prostate is still enlarged on the outside and rather vascular. The urologist said that exercise and the medication my husband is on (coumadin and aspirin) could cause small vessels in the prostate to rupture and bleed, throwing clots into the urine.
We suspected that the blood-thinners and heavy exercise had a lot to do with the bleeding, but needless to say we're quite relieved at the official clean bill of health.
(A couple of the staff at the office were quite confused to see me there this morning, as I'd just been there myself last week for a 3-month cystoscopy check-up -- which was all clear.)
