Well Mike, I live in a small town with a little over 100,000 folks and 2-hospitals. Both hospitals are owned by the same corporation and many of the medical practices have gone under the umbrella of this corporation. Therefore, the medical politics here are almost mafia-like.

I have found that many out-of-town Dr’s shy away from folks like me (folks that have gone Dr-to Dr attempting to find a cause/cure for a long-standing problem).

I do not know if my 5+ month long problem is a prostate infection or just a horribly irritated prostate that just will not heal. I do know that 5+ months of antibiotics did not help.

It’s been 3-months now since my last BCG, so according to Dr Lamm it’s OK to get a PSA, which I did 3-days ago, but have not heard back from my family Dr.

Thank the Lord; my old Uro is retiring again, so in Jan I will get my next Cysto with a new Uro and at a different office!

Happy New Year all!

Bill,

It really sounds like you need to find another IDS. Sure sounds like the quality of care where you are is atrocious.
Did your town recruit docs from the bottom 10% of the class or something?

I hope you can get this taken care of soon because it has certainly been going on way too long.

Bill,

I can hardly believe you are still struggling to get answers to your questions...not to mention all the discomfort you continue to have. Thank goodness you are continuing to check in with the warriors here who can point you in the right direction. I pray the new year finds you much improved and with the right doctors. You're still on my daily prayer list and looks like you will stay right there for awhile longer. God Bless. Hugs

I did see an "IDS" and got nowhere. This "idiot" called mu "old" Uro and asked his opinion for treament (go figure)! I believe if my "Old-Uro" had done his job, I would not have needed a "IDS".

So thanks a million for the advice, which at this point is logical. Let's see what the new Uro suggestes.

Hi Bill
Sorry to hear an infection might have returned.
During BCG treatments I had problems with infections. After my 5th my GP arranged an appointment with an Infection Specialist. I was on IV for 2 weeks but eventually the infections cleared. The infection was giving me urgency, burning and closed my left eye with swelling.
The specialist then had me take cipro for my remaining 8 treatments day of and for 5 days following. I have never had any further infections.
I recommend seeing a specialist rather than your Uro.
All the best,
Jack

Yes, Infectious Disease specialist is the way to go.
This shouldn't be going on this long.
