Poohgirl,
I completely understand the terror you are experiencing. My 83 year old dad was diagnosed with TCC (bladder cancer) in his left kidney last September. We took the kidney out in October only to be told on New Years Eve it had metastasized to a para aeortic lymph node and possibly a couple spots on the lungs. We went on carbo/gem chemo combo in January for a couple months and then found out in March the cancer had grown. After much research, I found a couple clinical trials of what is now known as Tecentriq. We started this in April and according to his last scan at the end of June his tumors shrank! We are due for another scan next week and am preying for good results.

So sorry to hear about your mother's diagnosis. It is so difficult when they have been there for us all our lives and we find that there is so little we can do to help. You will need to be her support now, as Jack says.

It would be a good idea to see if her oncologist will recommend Tecentriq at this stage. Perhaps he may also be aware of any clinical trials that may be available for her,.

Wishing you both the best

Sara Anne

Poolgirl,

You need to have the big talk with Mom AND her Oncologist. At stage 4 chemo and or radiation is like to be offered to Mom - her oncologist is the person best able to design a course of treatment and describe the type of support Mom is likely to need.

Mom is going to need a LOT of support at this time.Try to rally her friends and neighbors to be there for her. It is your turn to comfort and be strong for Mom.

Best to You and Mom,
Jack
