You're right Pat. There was no sign of clots in his arms or legs. He sat in the recliner when he returned and spent the day there. This was good for his lungs as his wheezing was minimal when he was upright. If he had to stand and move it did come back. He got a new Resident today as the one who had been following him moved to the VA for his rotation there. Now he has a lovely looking young blonde. Today his primary care physician and his pulmonologist stopped by to see him both also lovely young women. They both said it was a social visit. They seem to admire his spirit and friendliness. I think medical protocol means the Attending when he was admitted is in charge so they can consult but not direct.

Dick says he is enough better to be irritable. He says he spent an hour in the middle of the night telling them he needed more insulin as his glucose was above 300. And the on call Dr. kept trying to say the increase in the long acting insulin should take care of it. Dick says I have been a diabetic longer than they have been a Doctor. He had plenty to say during rounds today. Very politely but definite about he should not have to argue with a Dr. to get insulin. They said they would write the appropriate orders. The kidney specialist showed up this morning. She thinks the increase in creatinine is a result of the contrast used for the CT scan Sunday so they have taken him off the diuretic to give the kidneys a rest and hope the functioning comes back. There is no sign of any blockage.
He is still wheezing but it isn't as loud. Dick has just returned from an ultrasound of his legs to make sure there are no blood clots. Results tomorrow I guess.
