Mine didn't have a standard letter. I asked for a letter and he had his nurse call me to see what it should say. She/they didn't know if anyone had been successful with it but I've heard that some were.

Thanks!

My prescription insurance is private insurance, Sun Life not through our government insurance.
The standard letter was a letter my Uro had, not sure if all Uros do this.
I am glad I did not have to pay, $120 for 8 pills that you would cut in two.

The Viagra gave me headaches also. I told my doc about it and he changed me over to very low dose 25mg daily cialis.
Even the Viagra was a dose of splitting the pill into 4 pieces, but that still gave me a headache.

I think Canada covers differently than the U.S. though Jack.
No standard form for it here.

Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike

During my last 18 BCG treatments my Uro prescribed viagra.
My insurance company in Canada covered the cost (80%) because the prescription was written for a treatment I was under going.
My Uro gave me a standard letter for me to send to the insurance company.
Thank god I do not have to use that stuff any longer, gave me the worst head aches.

I'm just wondering if anyone has been successful getting insurance companies to pay for the "maintenance" dose often prescribed after RC/prostatectomy.

I had Humana back when I first had my RC and my surgeon wrote a note but it did no good. Basically, if it has anything to do with sex or the possibility of sex in the future, they wouldn't cover it.

I know have Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) and am trying to decide if I should try again with another letter.

My thought is that if someone out there was successful with a note from their doc, maybe I can get a copy or a synopsis of the letter so I can try it with BCBS.

Seems strange to pay so much ($130/mo) every month for something that doesn't have the intended effect but just helps blood flow.

I use the shot to get the intended effect but my surgeon suggests using the low dose of cialis daily for therapeutic purposes.

Thanks!
Mike
