Could anyone who has had a port installed for infusions please tell me what is involved in getting one and does it hurt to have it put in? Does it hurt after it is installed? How do you take care of it? Does it hurt to have it removed? How long can you keep the same one?
I'm trying to find out what is involved and which is better (if that is the proper word) a PICC line or port?
Can you have a port installed to get antibiotic infusions or is it only for chemo?
