Wow...Golf size balls!!.....tell me you're not a golfer? Well that sounds like the right strategy except using the small intestines for the pouch.....are you getting a neobladder? or possibly other type of internal diversion? Pat

The plan right now if for me to have a radical cystectomy on July 5th.

The Doctor will do another TUR two weeks before surgery. He doesn't believe I will need Chemotherapy before surgery because it hasn't invaded the muscle wall. He is having his pathologist look at the slides and the film from my first TUR. If he sees any indication that the surgery needs to occur sooner then July, he will reschedule it for an earlier date.

Since he says I am young (48), he is suggesting that he use my small intestines to create the new bladder.

The two golf ball size diverticulums are on either side of the bladder. It is not near the ureter or the urethra.

Rah...thats unusual to find diverticulum much less tumors in the diverticulum. Usually a diverticulum is of no significance but if a tumor happens to be in one or if one is next to a ureter you can get reflux up into the kidney. From what i've read a symptomatic bladder diverticulum needs to be surgically excised....I'm wondering if they are going to do that to get a stage on those tumors? What exactly did your surgeon tell you? Pat

About three weeks ago I was told that I have bladder cancer.
I had a scope and they saw the cancer on the bladder lining and in two diverticulums.
They did a biopsy and was able to scrape the cancer on the wall but couldn't get the cancer out of either diverticulum.

The Dr. Called and said the good news in that the cancer is not in the muscle wall yet.
The bad news is it is a high grade cancer.

I am thankful for this website so that when I went to the specialist, I alredy was pretty educated on what he covered.
