It is not the distance that should be the issue. It is the competence of the physician doing the surgery. This is not an "easy" surgery, and there are several options for the type of diversion that you will need. If you are going to go to Indianapolis you should definitely consider Indiana University Medical Center Dept. of Urology. A department affiliated with a medical school will usually have a wide range of up-to-date expertise.

You need to find a surgeon who does many (35 or more) of these procedures a year and who can offer you options of which kind of diversion you get. Many urologists only know how to do the simplest surgery and, therefore, only recommend it. Here is a good background reference about these diversions:

I 73 yrs old been told bcg not working will need to remove bladder was,in told I could go to Evansville,in or Indianapolis Evansville is only 50 miles away indy is 125 miles away
