Is pre PET CT necessary? (PEt before the treatment)

Diana,

I understand the CT/Pet scan issue on possible tumor connection and tumors. I don't recall if there ever has been an actual link causation wise. It is intuitive that added radiation is not good and one with contrast dye can cause other side effects although rare. Is the cure worth the risk? Yes, they are pretty accurate tests from what I have seen. Not doing the tests to me are more worrisome in missing something plus after one you can simply say I don't want any more. What I am really saying, in my shoes I would do it (and have had CT with contrast dye) with no other problems.

DX 5/6/2008 TAG3 papillary tumor .5 CM in size. 2 TURBS followed by 6 instillations of BCG weekly with a second round of 6 after a 6 week wait.

Hello,

As so many PET CT tests, I wonder if pre-treatment PET CT necessary?

I heard more Scans may cause cancer.

Thanks,
Diana
