Hello, I am having a series of tests done. Blood was found in my urine samples three times, so I was referred to a urologist. The urologist had me get an ultrasound, then a cystoscopy a couple of weeks ago. Although the cystoscopy showed a red area in my bladder, the doctor said everything looks fine. I guess they send a sample somewhere for further testing, so I have a follow up appointment with her at the end of the month. I thought that was all, so I was surprised to get a call from the secretary, telling me of my scheduled appointment for a CT scan, which must be done before my follow-up appointment.
So I wonder...is it normal for a CT scan to be ordered after a cystoscopy which the doctor said looks fine? Could it be that something was found on the test that needs further investigation, or do the doctors often just order a CT after a cystoscopy to cover all bases?
Thank you!
