I have had both gross and microscopic hematuria (depending on the day) for over a year... usually microscopic but when I get one of my frequent uti's, I always have gross hematuria. I have had a ct that revealed nothing out - of - the - ordinary. On Monday, I had a cystoscopy that revealed cysts and polyps in my bladder. My urologist thinks the cysts are from my frequent uti's and has put me on 40 days of antibiotics to try to eliminate them and give the cysts a chance to heal. I have another cystoscopy scheduled for November, but he will only do the procedure if I have blood in my urine that day. If not, he's not checking on it anymore.
I feel like it's weird that he can tell me that I don't have cancer when he hasn't done any testing on the polyps at all. If it were you, would you get a 2nd opinion? Would you insist on another cystoscopy in November even if you didn't have hematuria that day?
